The Verdin’s are singing their spring song (a wistful modification of a wolf whistle), as are the thrashers (a virtuoso performance of warbles and trills, heard earlier this morning from my bed). I heard a towhee, and got a glimpse of the hawk again, flying away as I approached home. Not many flowers this year because of the drought, but the paloverdes are beginning to come out. Already it is quite warm by 9:00 a.m.
