Young Cooper’s Hawk

I’ve been seeing this one around for the last couple of weeks, but this was the first time I got a good enough look to distinguish it from a Sharp-shinned Hawk. It has the larger head, the thin dark streaks, and, in flight, the straight wings and the rounded tail. I was just getting back when it flew up into the eucalyptus tree near the old Fitzgerald’s place and posed for me. The call was a short, bell-like kip.
